Mediagator

Free, open-source Windows app that scans drives, organises photo and video files by date, and transfers them with copy-verify-delete safety.

The hardware-aware transfer engine is the technical centerpiece: Mediagator detects whether source and destination drives are SSD or HDD, reads available RAM and CPU core count, then automatically tunes parallel worker count and copy buffer size for maximum throughput. It temporarily adds both drives to Windows Defender's exclusion list during transfer (with admin privileges) so real-time AV scanning doesn't throttle the copy speed. Includes EXIF sampling for smart insights, a full HTML transfer report, and a 8-step PyQt6 wizard UI. Built entirely in Cursor using Claude. Currently at v1.0.6 with macOS port planned.
